Challenger bank card migration

This significant new entrant to the UK Banking sector, a subsidiary of a major UK retailer, required Subject Matter Expertise and delivery support to take control of their previous outsourced product range and bring it in-house by migrating products onto its own infrastructure.

Key objectives

  • Set up of processes, procedures and new operating models with in-house and external suppliers to enable the conversion of its product portfolios
  • Manage key elements of the Data Migration to bring 1+ million credit cards onto a new platform, design and run trials and dress rehearsals with no negative customer impacts
  • Put in place an Expert Panel to support the credit card migration including providing advice and guidance relating to Industry best practice for Card Migration Programmes and undertaking risk assessments
  • Launch a current account

The challenge

  • The retailer’s previous involvement in financial services had been restricted to that of a marketing partner. The new Challenger Bank needed to both launch new products, such as a current account and to assume full ownership and management of its credit cards, loans and savings portfolios
  • Aledro’s involvement in the programme included delivering key tasks within the Data Migration and Credit & Risk workstreams and the establishment of an expert panel of Subject Matter Experts, whose role was to provide expert opinion, direction and quality assurance to the programme
  • Working with Tsys, the outsourced supplier at the core of the systems solutions, planning and execution of dry, runs and dress rehearsals were required to ensure that the ‘big bang’ data migration was fully controlled with checkpoints and back out plans in place for the weekend event
